Coast Guard medevacs man from boat near Annapolis, Md.

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a sailboat Wednesday in Mills Creek near Annapolis.

An individual aboard the sailboat contacted the Coast Guard, stating a member aboard the boat was unconscious.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore launched a 29- foot Response Boat – Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis to assist.

The RB-S II crew transported the boater to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Cantler’s Riverside Inn.

“We assessed the victim when we arrived on scene and decided to bring him aboard,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Rob Rogers, a crewmember at Coast Guard Station Annapolis. “The sailboat was en route to the awaiting EMS when we decided to transfer him because we could get there quicker.”

The man regained consciousness, and his condition remained stable throughout the transit.
