Coast Guard medevacs man approximately 70 miles west of Pacific City, Oregon

Pacific Northwest Coast Guard NewsASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 42-year-old man from the fishing vessel Tombo approximately 70 miles west of Pacific City, Ore., Tuesday.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River, located in Astoria, received a call from the crew of the 56-foot vessel at approximately 5:35 p.m., stating a crewmember was experiencing chest pains.

Sector Columbia River launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria.

The crew located the vessel and lowered a rescue swimmer and rescue basket.

The crew then successfully hoisted the man to the helicopter at approximately 8 p.m., transported him to Air Station Astoria and placed him in the care of local EMS.

The man was conscious and responsive at the time of the transfer.
