Coast Guard medevacs man after vessel grounding near Clapboard Creek

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevacked a 72-year-old man Monday after a vessel ran aground near Clapboard Creek.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center watch standers received a call at 8:30 a.m. via VHF Channel 16 from the crew of the 46-foot vessel Northern Pearl stating they ran aground, and a passenger sustained a leg injury.

A Coast Guard Station Mayport boatcrew launched a 29-foot Response Boat – Small at 8:33 a.m. The RB-S crew arrived on scene at 9:01 a.m. and transported the man to Station Mayport to awaiting EMS personnel.
