Coast Guard medevacs man, 55, from disabled sailboat 20 miles east of Charleston

65 SavannahJACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevacked a man Monday 20 miles east of Charleston.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah medevacked a 55-year-old man who was a passenger aboard the 60-foot sailboat the Three Dutchman, which was being towed.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watch standers were notified when the man became ill and was not able to take medication. The man was transferred to a tow boat, hoisted at 12:12 p.m. and transferred to medical personnel at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital at 1:02 p.m.
