MIAMI — A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced a 74-year-old man Monday who was unconscious and revived by Carnival Breeze cruise ship personnel 379 miles southwest of St. Petersburg.
Watchstanders with the 7th Coast Guard District Command Center received a call around 3:20 p.m. Monday cruise ship personnel stating a passenger was unconscious and revived by a cruise ship medical staff member. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew to assist.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisting the patient around 8 p.m., and flew him to Tampa General Hospital at about midnight in stable condition.
