Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders were notified by the crew of the Navy sailing vessel Commitment at about 12:25 a.m. that a 20-year-old crewmember was reportedly experiencing nausea and dehydration.
A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew launched from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light and arrived on scene at about 2:00 a.m.
The man was taken aboard the rescue boat and transported to awaiting EMS personnel at Station Barnegat Light.
The crewmember was then taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for further medical treatment.
“There was great coordination and communication between everyone involved,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Brad Stuetz, a watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay. “We are all happy that he is getting the proper medical attention that he needs.”
