Coast Guard medevacs man 250 miles south west of Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. — Coast Guard crews medevaced a man Saturday 250 miles south west of Tampa.

The 23-year-old male suffered an eye injury Friday while aboard the 820-foot tanker Georgy Maslov.

Coast Guard 7th District Command Center watchstanders received a report of the injury at 8 a.m. Saturday. Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane aircrew at 1:20 p.m.

The man was hoisted and delivered to Tampa General Hospital at 5:29 p.m.
