Coast Guard medevacs man 16 miles east of Miami

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 34-year-old man with a neck injury Monday from the vessel Renegade approximately 16 miles east of Miami.

A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew received a radio call from the vessel Renegade reporting a crew member suffered a neck injury. The helicopter crew informed the watch standers at Coast Guard Sector Miami of the report. Another air station helicopter crew was in the area conducting training and self-diverted to assist the mariner.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the mariner and flew him to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further medical care.
