MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a man Monday from a cruise ship 138 miles west of Great Inagua, Bahamas.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a crewmember aboard the Carnival Vista contacted Coast Guard 7th District watchstanders stating a man was suffering from chest pains and was in need of emergency care.

Watchstanders launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater. The aircrew arrived at approximately 6:46 p.m., hoisted the patient and transferred him to local emergency medical services who transported him to Cheshire Hall Medical Center for further care.
