Coast Guard medevacs man 100 miles off the Corpus Christi coast

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Coast Guard medevaced a 39-year-old man from a charter fishing boat 100 miles east of Corpus Christi last night.

A watchstander at Station Port Aransas received a call at 6:18 p.m. from the captain of the charter fishing boat, Dolphin. The captain reported that a man on board was suffering from chest pains and needed immediate medical attention.

Air Station Corpus Christi launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter crew and an HU-25 Falcon jet crew to assist. The rescue helicopter crew safely hoisted the man off the boat and transported him to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi.

The man was last reported to be in stable condition.
