SAN DIEGO − A Coast Guard aircrew medically evacuated an injured passenger from an 80-foot fishing boat nearly 70 miles south of Point Loma, Friday.
The captain of the Dolphin III contacted the Coast Guard around 8:15 a.m., to report a 45-year-old passenger suffered a seizure and hit his head.
The initial plan was for the Dolphin III to head to San Diego, however after the passenger’s condition worsened Coast Guard crews determined it best to medevac the man to get him advanced medical attention.
A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man around 2:50 p.m., and transported him to Sector where they were met by an ambulance for transport to the hospital.
