HOUSTON – The Coast Guard medevaced a 33-year-old man from a vessel about 35 miles south of Sabine Pass, Texas, late this afternoon.
A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a call at 3:31 p.m., from a crewmember on a nearby oil rig, reporting that a crewman working on the High Island 167 platform had been injured. The injured man was reported to have a broken arm and possibly broken ribs. Rig personnel were able to move the injured man to the vessel Isabella, who was heading toward shore.
Coast Guard Air Station Houston crews launched a rescue helicopter to pick up the man and transported him safely to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
