ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 60-year-old man from a 52-foot fishing vessel two miles south of Knowles Head, Alaska, Thursday.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak hoisted the injured man from the fishing vessel Lady Kay and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services in Cordova at 12:50 p.m. The man was reported in stable condition upon transfer.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Anchorage command center received notification at 11:33 p.m. that the vessel’s master sustained injuries and required assistance. After consulting with a Coast Guard duty flight surgeon, a medevac was recommended and the Jayhawk crew diverted from a nearby training mission.
Weather on scene was 6 mph winds and seas of two feet.
