KODIAK, Alaska – A Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted an injured man from the deck of a fishing vessel 60 miles south of Kodiak Island today.

The Coast Gurad received a call from a crewman aboard the Seattle based fishing vessel Cape Kawana at 10:14 a.m., on VHF channel 16 reporting a crewmember was injured and in need of medical attention.
An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak was launched to medevac the injured crewmember.
The 39-year-old was hoisted into the helicopter and transported to Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak where he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel for further treatment.
