Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman

NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced one person from a fishing vessel near the Mississippi River Gulf outlet, Monday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report of a crewmember who was reportedly suffering from a head wound on the fishing vessel Green Gold. The crew member was mopping when he reportedly slipped and hit his head.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was sent from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans.

The helicopter crew safely hoisted the patient and flew him to West Jefferson Medical Center for further medical treatment.

He was reportedly listed in stable condition.
