Coast Guard medevacs infant to Bartlett Regional Hospital

JUNEAU, Alaska – A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station Sitka medevaced a 1-year-old child who reportedly was injured from a fall while aboard a cruise ship 80 miles west of Juneau near Cross Sound at 1:20 a.m Tuesday.

The Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Center in Juneau received a phone call at 11:20 p.m. Monday from a crewmember aboard the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity reporting the infant was in need of medical assistance.

The rescue helicopter crew launched and safely hoisted a parent with child. The helicopter arrived in Juneau where the child was transferred to emergency medical services in stable condition at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday.
