Coast Guard medevacs freighter captain

MIAMI – A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew medically evacuated the captain of the motor vessel Cap Breton approximately 80 miles southeast of Miami, Friday.

Ship’s personnel contacted Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders to request assistance after the captain began experiencing chest pain. Coast Guard Seventh District personnel in Miami immediately launched an Air Station Miami helicopter rescue crew, who safely hoisted him from the vessel.

He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami in stable condition.
