An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew conducts a hoist of a 53-year-old man aboard the fishing vessel Fresh Catch

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a diver from the fishing vessel Fresh Catch approximately 35 miles offshore of Freeport, Texas, Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report that a 53-year-old man aboard the fishing vessel Fresh Catch was suffering from possible decompression sickness. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.

A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched to the scene.

The Dolphin helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the diver to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.

The diver was reported to be in stable condition.
