Coast Guard medevacs dive boat crew member

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., medevaced a man suffering from chest pains 40 miles east of Cape Charles, Va. at 1:02 p.m. today.

Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Hampton Roads received a report from the 40-foot dive vessel Miss Lindsey at 11:23 a.m. stating that a 56-year-old male crew member was experiencing chest pains after a technical mixed-gas dive.

An HH-65 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man aboard the helicopter, and transported him to Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Va. at 1:15 p.m.

The patient is in stable condition.
