Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship passenger

SAN DIEGO — A crew from Coast Guard Station San Diego medically evacuated a man who suffered a possible cardiac arrest three miles off the coast of San Diego Thursday morning.

The cruise ship, Carnival Paradise, contacted the Coast Guard requesting a medevac for the 77-year-old man at 2:40 a.m.

A 41-foot rescue boat launched from the station and met the cruise ship. The patient was transferred to the Coast Guard boat and brought to San Diego, where he was transferred to emergency medical personnel.
