SEATTLE – A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew airlifted an 80-year-old man from the cruise ship Dawn Princess 60 miles off the coast of the Columbia River around 7 p.m. today.
The passenger was near death from a medical condition, but was soon resuscitated by the medical crew onboard the 1,950-passenger cruise ship.
Coast Guard assistance was requested and Air Station Astoria dispatched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to the scene.
Once on scene, the rescue helicopter crew hoisted and transported the passenger to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Ore.
