Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship Carnival Pride passenger 15 miles east of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Coast Guard crews medevaced a 46-year-old woman Tuesday from the cruise ship Carnival Pride 15 miles east of Charleston.

The woman was reported to have suffered a stroke.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders received notification at 6:27 p.m. Monday and launched a Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew at 7 a.m. due to low visibility from heavy fog Monday night.

The woman and a nurse were hoisted and taken to Roper St. Francis Hospital at 8:13 a.m.

The woman was reported to be in stable condition.
