Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship Carnival Dream passenger

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 71-year-old female from a cruise ship near the Southwest Pass, Saturday.

The crew of the cruise ship, Carnival Dream, notified the Coast Guard that the female was suffering from signs of severe respiratory distress.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders launched a Coast Guard MH-65 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to conduct the medevac at 9:29 a.m. The aircrew hoisted the patient and the ship’s doctor.

The patient and doctor were flown to West Jefferson Medical Center and was reported in stable condition.
