Coast Guard Medevacs Crewmember From Tanker

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old male from a tanker vessel approximately 220 miles south of Southwest Pass, Saturday evening.

A watchstander at the Eighth Coast Guard District Command Center received a call at approximately 4 p.m. that a crewmember aboard the vessel Zeus was experiencing possible appendicitis.

Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Ala., launched a HU-25 Falcon rescue jetcrew and Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew which transported him safely to West Jefferson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The condition of the man is unknown.
