NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a crewmember from a vessel in the Mississippi River, Sunday, at about 11 a.m.
Rescued was Irina Litvinowa, 49.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a phone call at approximately 8:45 a.m., from a shipping agent on shore, that a 49-year-old female crewmember aboard the Kazan, an 800-foot foot Liberian-flaggged tanker, was reportedly suffering from stomach pains.
Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans deployed an MH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to the scene at approximately 10:45 a.m.
The rescue crew successfully hoisted Litvinowa off the tanker and transported her to West Jefferson Hospital in Harvey, La.
Litvinowa’s condition is unknown.
