Coast Guard Medevacs Crewmember from Fishing Boat

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 65-year-old man from a fishing vessel approximately 45 miles east of New Orleans in the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet Monday, Sept. 8, 2008.

A watchstander from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 5:30 p.m. from Sector New Orleans, reporting that a crewmember working on a fishing vessel was suffering from chest pains and a medevac was requested.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to the vessel and hoisted the man and transported him safely to West Jefferson Medical Center.
