ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 58-year-old Filipino crewmember today after he fell while aboard a freight ship about 55 miles off the coast of Cape May, N.J.
Medevaced was Efren Relojas.
The Coast Guard received a call Tuesday evening from a crewmember aboard the Rickmers Tokyo, a 632-foot freight ship, who stated Relojas had fallen about nine feet and was suffering from a head injury.
The Coast Guard dispatched an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City who arrived onscene and medevaced the injured crewmember at about 1 a.m. today.
Relojas was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center here.
