Coast Guard Medevacs Burn Victim From Chemical Tanker

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man from a chemical tanker ship in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 120 miles southwest of the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River, today.

At approximately 10 a.m., a watchstander at the Coast Guard’s Atlantic Area Command Center received a call from a crewman aboard the vessel, Jo Ask, requesting medical assistance.

An HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and a HU-25A Falcon jet and crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., were launched to assist.

The crew hoisted the man and safely transported him to Baton Rogue General Hospital in Baton Rogue, La., for treatment.
