SAN DIEGO – An aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego medically evacuated a passenger from a cruise ship 50 miles southwest of Point Loma Sunday afternoon.
The crew of the Carnival Inspiration contacted the Coast Guard at 11:43 a.m., requesting a medevac for a 26-year-old man who was experiencing rapid heart rate and possible cardiac complications.
Sector San Diego dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to perform the medevac.
The aircrew hoisted the man and the ship’s nurse to the helicopter and transported them to Sector San Diego, where they transferred the man to emergency medical personnel.
