Coast Guard medevacs 71-year-old woman near Lahaina, Maui

45 HonoluluHONOLULU — A 71-year-old woman is receiving treatment in Maui after being medically evacuated near Lahaina, Maui, Saturday.

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Maui rendezvoused with the charter vessel Lahaina Princess, took the the woman and her family aboard patient and and safely transferred to Ma’alaea Harbor on Maui to meet awaiting EMS.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu received a medevac request at 12:05 p.m., from the charter vessel, Lahaina Princess regarding a 71-year-old female passenger who was found unresponsive in the water.

The passenger was recovered by Lahaina Princess crewmembers who administered CPR. After one round of compressions, she was found to be responsive.

At 12:10 p.m., Sector Honolulu launched a RB-M crew to the scene. The patient and her family reached Ma’alaea Harbor on Maui at 1:00 p.m., where local emergency medical services personnel were waiting to transport her to Maui Memorial Hospital.
