Coast Guard medevacs 62-year-old man from fishing vessel

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from 12 nautical miles south of Grand Isle, La., Saturday.

Coast Guard New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 4:38 p.m. of a 62-year-old man aboard a fishing vessel suffering from prolonged flu-like symptoms who had fallen out of his rack and sustained face, neck, and back injuries.

Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Grand Isle 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew at 5:15 p.m.

The boat crew arrived on scene at 6:28 p.m. and transported the survivor to Station Grand Isle where he was transferred to emergency services and brought to Our Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galliano, La.

The survivor was reported in stable conditon.
