NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man four nautical miles south of Atchafalaya Bay, Louisiana, Tuesday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 5:20 a.m. of a 60-year-old man aboard the barge Pacific Shore in need of a medevac after experiencing stroke-like symptoms.
Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 6:43 a.m.
The aircrew arrived on scene at 7:17 a.m. and transferred the survivor to West Jefferson Medical Hospital at 8:17 a.m.
The survivor was reported in stable condition.
