Coast Guard medevacs 55-year-old man south of Point Loma

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 55-year-old man approximately 170 miles south of Point Loma, Thursday.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. Thursday, the crew of the passenger vessel Shogun contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego’s Joint Harbor Operations Center to report a passenger was experiencing heart attack like symptoms.

A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was immediately launched to medically evacuate the man.

The Jayhawk crew arrived on scene, safely hoisted hoisted the man, and returned to Sector San Diego at approximately 1:15 a.m, Friday. Emergency medical services then transported him to UC San Diego Medical Center, in Hillcrest.

His condition is unknown.
