Coast Guard medevacs 51-year-old male off Sabine coast

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 51-year-old male 80 nautical miles off the Sabine coast on Wednesday.

Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at approximately 4 p.m. from the crew of oil rig number 498 reporting that a 51-year-old male passenger onboard the 34-foot fishing vessel Cuda Too was experiencing seizure-like symptoms.

A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65C rescue helicopter crew and an Air Station Corpus Christi HU-25 Falcon jet crew were both immediately launched to the scene. The Falcon jet crew provided over flight coverage, while the rescue helicopter crew hoisted the man from the fishing vessel.

The rescue helicopter crew transported the man to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition.
