Coast Guard medevacs 40-year-old woman near Grays Harbor

SEATTLE – A 40-year-old woman who became ill was medically evacuated by the Coast Guard from a 56-foot fishing vessel today near Grays Harbor, Wash.

At 3:13 p.m., Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria, Ore., received a call from the master of the charter fishing vessel Ranger requesting medical assistance for the woman.

An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from the air station and a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, Wash., were launched to assist within minutes.

The motor lifeboat crew escorted the vessel to Station Grays Harbor, where the woman was transferred to the helicopter.

The helicopter crew transported the women to an airport near Grays Harbor Community Hospital where an awaiting ambulance crew delivered her to the hospital.
