PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man after receiving a call for assistance from a cruise ship crewmember approximately 75 miles east of Wilmington, N.C., Monday.
The doctor of the cruise ship Norwegian Gem contacted Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders at 4:39 p.m. stating that there was a 38-year-old man who was reported to be going into shock.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., medevaced the man from the ship and took him to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington in stable condition.
