Coast Guard medevacs 26-year-old from cruise ship Carnival Dream

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 26-year-old man suffering from a reported seizure aboard the cruise ship Carnival Dream near Venice, Louisiana, Sunday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received the report at 7:17 p.m. while the Carnival Dream was transiting south on the Mississippi River from New Orleans.

Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Venice 29-foot Response Boat-Small II crew at 7:43 p.m.

The crew arrived on scene at 9:45 p.m. and transferred the survivor to Acadian Ambulance paramedics at Station Venice. He was taken to Plaquemines Medical Center in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

The survivor was reported in stable condition.
