SEATTLE — The Coast Guard medically evacuated two injured crewmembers from a vessel in the Pacific Ocean about14 miles southwest of the mouth of the Columbia River, Monday morning.
The operator of the cargo vessel Alexandros Theo contacted Coast Guard Sector Columbia River watchstanders, reporting two crewmembers had sustained burn injuries at about 10:40 a.m.
Sector watchstanders have dispatched a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, in Warrenton, Ore., and a 25-foot Response Boat Small from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment in Ilwaco, Wash., to assist. The aircrew safely hoisted the two men and transferred them to waiting Emergency Medical Service at Air Station Astoria.
