Coast Guard Medevacs 13-Year-Old From Cruise Ship

MIAMI – A Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Fla., rescue crew medically evacuated a 13-year-old female from a cruise ship three miles east of Miami Beach at about 6:30 a.m. today.

The doctor on board the 680-foot Norweigan cruise ship Majesty, home ported in Charleston, S.C., contacted Coast Guard officials early this morning and reported that a 13-year-old girl suffered mild head trauma after falling five decks (stories) over a balcony.

A Station Miami Beach 41-foot Utility Boat rendezvoused with the Majesty and transferred her into the small boat.

The girl was brought to Coast Guard Station Miami Beach at 7:24 a.m. Local EMS were standing by to transfer her to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
