WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 78-year-old man Saturday from the woods inside Warren State Park near Washington Township.
The Coast Guard received a call at 5:49 p.m. from a member of the Washington Township Police Department reporting a man punctured his leg while riding a bike in Warren State Park and was bleeding severely. Emergency medical personnel were on scene with the man but were having difficulty driving their ambulance out of the forest due to poor road conditions.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted the man aboard their helicopter.
The 78-year-old was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.
The man was reported to be in stable condition.
