Coast Guard 8th District News
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a fishing vessel in Caminada Pass, Thursday, near Grand Isle.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report via marine-band radio at approximately 8:45 a.m., that a man aboard the fishing vessel, Mary Judith, had injured both of his legs. Coast Guard Station Grand Isle launched a 41-foot utility boat and crew to the scene at approximately 9 a.m.

The crew successfully transferred the man off the Mary Judith and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Grand Isle.

The man’s condition is unknown.

The Coast Guard recommends all mariners have a marine-band radio on their vessel. Marine-band radios are a more effective way to communicate with rescue personnel in the event of an emergency.
