Coast Guard medevacs 1 from Lake Borgne

Coast Guard District 8 NewsNEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a man, Saturday, from a personal craft in Biloxi Marsh on Lake Borgne.

Medevaced was Charlie Moore, 65.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call at approximately 6:30 p.m., from the 30-foot recreational vessel, Wet Dream, that a man aboard a personal craft was experiencing chest pains and symptoms of a heart attack.

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew successfully hoisted and transported Moore to West Jefferson General Medical Center in Marrero.

“We worked closely with the Good Samaritan vessel to effect a safe, quick hoist to help save his life,” said Lt. Joe Coffman, Air Station New Orleans pilot. “The good samaritan and a number of other vessels in the canal worked together to secure their gear, which helped us execute an efficient and expedient medevac.”

His condition is unknown.
