Coast Guard medevacs 1 from charter vessel near Oregon Inlet, NC

FORT MACON, N.C. – The Coast Guard medevaced a person from the charter vessel Carolinian near the Oregon Inlet Bridge, N.C., Sunday.

At approximately 6 a.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina’s command center received a call from a crewmember aboard the Carolinian stating that they had run aground and had one person suffer an injury.

Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched a rescue-boat crew that arrived on scene and took the boater aboard. The boat crew transported the boater to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Oregon Inlet, which transported the patient to the Outer Banks General Hospital.

A good Samaritan helped refloat the Carolinian, which was able to make it to port at Wanchese on its own power.
