Coast Guard medevaced young man from river bank

HOUSTON- The Coast Guard medevaced a young man off the San Jacinto River bank, today after the water tube he was on reportedly capsized throwing him into the river.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. a dispatch operator from the Hermann Memorial Hospital contacted the Coast Guard requesting assistance, stating that the 19-year-old young man had reportedly lost consciousness and fell into the river and was pulled to the shore by the friends who were accompanying him on the trip.

Coast Guard Air Station Houston launched a HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to the scene that safely hoisted the young man and transported him to the Hermann Memorial Hospital were he received medical treatment.
