Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay, Ga., to hold change of command

7th Coast Guard District NewsKINGS BAY, Ga. – A change of command ceremony for Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay is scheduled to be held at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Commander Steve Love will relieve Cmdr. Joe Raymond during a time-honored military tradition to formally transfer command

U.S. Representative Jack Kingston, representing Georgia’s First Congressional District, will be delivering the keynote address during the ceremony.

Upon his relief, Raymond is to serve as the Coast Guard’s liaison to the U.S. Senate at the Coast Guard Congressional and Governmental Affairs Office in Washington, D.C.

Love reports from the Office of Boat Forces at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served as the ashore-based platform manager and was responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, support and programming oversight for over 1,100 Coast Guard boat platforms.

Coast Guard MFPU Kings Bay is responsible for providing dedicated force protection to the Navy’s submarine fleet as they transit in and out of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

Presiding over the event will be Rear Adm. William Baumgartner, commander, Seventh Coast Guard District.
