Coast Guard locates missing owner of kayak

BOSTON (D1 Public Affairs) – The Coast Guard located the owner of the blue kayak that was reported abandoned earlier today in Concord Point, N.H.

While a crew from Station Portsmouth Harbor in Portsmouth, N.H., was checking local marinas, they noticed a similar green kayak at Petey’s Summertime Seafood and Bar in Rye, N.H. Restaurant personnel reported that one of their kayaks had broken free from its mooring earlier. When the Coast Guard crew described a sticker on the blue kayak in Concord Point, the restaurant personnel confirmed that the kayak belonged to them and that no one was in danger.

“We’re glad this search ended well,” said Lt. Lisa Tinker of the Sector Northern New England command center. “We encourage kayak and canoe owners to put contact information on their vessels so that we know where to begin looking and who we’re looking for. Every piece of information counts when time is critical.”
