Coast Guard locates body of missing woman from grounded fishing vessel near Coos Bay

ASTORIA, Ore. – The U.S. Coast Guard located the body of the woman, Monday, who was reported missing after the fishing vessel Ruth ran aground in Coos Bay, Ore., Sunday.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Coos Bay located the body more than a mile southwest of the Coos Bay Bar entrance at approximately 6:45 p.m., then recovered and transferred the deceased victim to Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies. Coos County Medical Examiners confirmed her identity as the missing woman from the fishing vessel Ruth.
