Coast Guard locates body of missing man

America's Heartland Coast Guard NewsHOUSTON — A Coast Guard helicopter crew located the body of a missing man near San Leon in Galveston Bay at 7:25 p.m., Wednesday.

The helicopter crew directed a Coast Guard boat crew to the location to recover the man. They performed CPR en route to shore where he was pronounced deceased by local emergency medical personnel.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Coast Guard for assistance locating the missing man at about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday night. They reported that they were searching for a 40-year-old male who had fallen off his catamaran.

Coast Guard watchstanders launched crews aboard a 25-foot Response Boat – Small from Coast Guard Station Galveston and an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Houston to help search for the man.
