Coast Guard Locates Airplane Fuselage and 1 Victim

MARBLEHEAD, Ohio – U.S. Coast Guard, state, county and local response agencies have located the fuselage of the airplane that crashed yesterday evening off the coast of Kelleys Island.

Response teams also located 9-year-old victim Jeremy David Hutchison.

The fuselage was detected by the side-scan sonar at approximately 11:35 a.m., today, approximately 700 yards off of Kelleys Island in 18-20 feet of water. Further investigation by divers discovered the second passenger.

The search continues for 46-year-old Jeff Hutchison, pilot and father of the two passengers.

The third passenger, 7-year-old Joel Hutchison, was recovered by a Good Samaritan, Mr. Chuck Herndon, who heard his calls for help and rowed a boat to assist. The young man was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
