Coast Guard, local response crews search for possible missing diver

14th Coast Guard District NewsHONOLULU — Rescue crews with the Coast Guard, the Honolulu Fire Department, the Honolulu Police Department and Ocean Safety are searching the vicinity of Cabana’s Beach between LahiLahi Point and Wai’anae Boat Harbor in Pokai Bay for a possible missing diver Monday.

A rescue boat crew aboard a Coast Guard Station Honolulu 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and a rescue aircrew aboard a Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter are searching approximately 200 yards north of Pokai Bay.

The captain of a dive vessel from Dolphin Excursions recovered a dive float with recently speared fish attached and a severed tether line floating approximately 200 yards offshore of Cabana’s Beach.

Anyone who has lost a float in the area or anyone with information about this search should contact the Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.
